Some surfer words to know and use!
Accessory Man-A surfer that has every piece of surf gear imaginable and uses it all at the same time regardless of whether the circumstances call for it.
Ace -To be alone or in a solitary state of mind - to go solo
Aggro-Angry. Pissed off
Aikona-Meaning no way; absolutely ain't gonna happen.
Air-After a good bottom turn with a lot of speed, the rider cuts under the face, off-the-lip, and into the air.
Alaia-A surfboard made of wood. Generally about six feet long and was used by Hawaiians to surf prior to the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy in the late 19th century.
Alchemy Hour-The period of time when a surfer enjoys the best a swell has to offer.
Alltimers Disease-Condition suffered by a surfer who claims to catch the best possible or "all-time" conditions every single time he goes to the beach.
Amped-Really charged up...stoked, psyched. It's on!
Ate It-An especially gnarly wipeout.
Babalaas-A hangover of the worst kind.
Baggies-Surf Trunks about knee-length or a little longer. Loose fitting shorts;
Bajawaller-Highway surfer that occasionally travels to Baja and brags about the killer waves he scored. Generally no one can corroborate his story.
Bammerwee-When something is just okay, not all that good.
Barney-Someone who is less than skilled at surfing.
Barnie-To engage in a fight with someone.
Barnwaller-Surfer exhibiting poor style
Bashing-Body surfing. Also what a surfer does when he smacks the lip.
Bennie-A tanless tourist on the beach.
Benny-A Benny is someone who dresses like, talks like, acts like, and hangs out with actual hardcore surfers, but is not one.
Betty-Used by surfers to describe a good looking Wahine or group of Wahines.
Bone Yard-The shore side of a break line.
Brodad-Surfer or Hodad wanna-be surfer who overuses Bro or Brah.
CT-The common abbreviation for the professional surfing "Championship Tour."
Cavasos-Guys who have a small-man complex and cry when they lose surfing heats.
Charf-To tease someone, joke around, make fun of or flirt with the opposite sex in an attempt to... (well i think you can figure it out)
Core-A dedicated surfer who goes out in all conditions no matter what the air/sea temp is or how good the waves are.
Dawn Patrol-To get up extra early to catch the best wave conditions before weather or tide changes make them less optimal.
Dirt Baggin' It-Condition where a surfer lives a bare-bones existence in order to save every bit of money he makes to spend on his next surf trip.
Ditch Witch-Parents that use the beach as a baby sitter.
Floatwaller-Someone who paddles beyond the breakwater and floats around for hours without catching a wave. Later brags to friends about how good the waves were.
Frost-Fine, hot, sexy, cute.
